Thermia Point, Island of Ikaria, Eastern Sporades 18th July 2011. 37:37.024N 026:18.25E

We left our mooring in Mykonos and headed out into the bay. The 20 knots became 30 knots, but once we rounded the south west tip of Mykonos the wind reduced.

Along the south coast the wind alternated between gusts and calm, so our sails were up then motoring and so on.
We cleared the coast and got a steady 15-17 knots, good sailing and nice sea state. As we neared Ikaria the wind increased again to low 30’s, but once in the lee of the island the wind stopped like a switch to 1.0 knots.
The wind then whistled across the harbour in Agios Kirykos, Ikaria’s town making mooring too difficult so we anchored off Thermia Point for the night.
